dorozome: mud-dye
While many of the pieces in the FW15 collection are inspired by the ethereal tones of clouds and the sky, our designer Yukari Suda also looked to the ground beneath her feet for several earthy pieces. Dorozome is a mud-dye technique which is traditionally used in the production of coveted kimonos. For our maxi silk dress and skirt, the silk fabric is immersed in fruit pulp and dark mud and soil to create this distinct look, then dried in the sun. Each piece is dyed by hand and truly unique.
maxi silk dress, $ 690, and maxi silk skirt, $ 630, available in our soho store and online. you can reach us at our soho store at 212.938.1973.
